Who Is Laney Wright

Laney Wright is a junior at Mattoon High School. She is a member of the cheerleading team, student council, national honors society, and B.I.O.N.I.C. tutor team. Outside of school, she participates in pageants where she is currently the 2021 Miss Mattoon which gives her the opportunity to go to community events and meet new people. Her hobbies include reading, baking, scrapbooking, and spending time with her friends and family.

Laney chose to join ClassE because she wants to learn from the people in our community, make connections, and explore different career paths. Laney says, “I think that ClassE is an incredible program for our community and I would encourage all students to sign up. I feel that it is a great opportunity for students to learn business techniques and life skills.”

Although, Laney is undecided on a business plan, she is excited to learn more about opening a business throughout the year. So far, she has learned a lot through the class and the guest speakers. Her favorite speaker so far is Bob Schultz who discussed escaping our comfort zones and engaging with each person we met. He demonstrated how to have professional conversations and advance our careers by making a good impression. Laney says, “I thought the presentation given by Bob Schultz was insightful and will prove to not only be valuable as I start my business career but in everyday life as well.”
