Katie Douglas, ClassE Student

Katie’s violin experiences include being in concerts with the ESO (Eastern Symphony Orchestra) and Summer/Holiday Strings. She also has played for weddings, Catholic Masses, and a Christmas event at Lincoln Log Cabin. She has had around 7 years of experience with her instrument and always practices to improve her skills. She has also served and cleaned up meals during her volunteer work at the Immaculate Conception Parish Center, greeting people warmly as they enter to eat at the Spaghetti Supper and other Fundraisers. Katie Douglas is very open to meeting new people. She was involved in going door to door to sell butter braids, raising money for her youth group’s yearly trip to Washington DC for the March for Life. This summer, she worked with Fit-2-Serve through TRIO, a program for career exploration and college preparation offered at Lakeland College. Katie’s Catholic faith drives her to be a positive member of her community and help others around her.

When Katie took a glance at Class E and the curriculum, she knew it would be a perfect fit for her. The idea of it appealed to Katie because she wanted to be able to network within her community, learn from other entrepreneurs centered in Coles County, and have the resources to expand her business. So far, she has found the class to be beneficial in gaining confidence and stepping out of her comfort zone while interacting with new people. In addition to being a member of Class E, she participates in a variety of activities at her high school. These clubs include but are not limited to: Team Massive, B.I.O.N.I.C., and N.H.S.
